Heritage Wall Beds by Wood Effects

Woods and finishes…

Exotic wood veneer and custom pattern veneering adds a natural, vivid character to cabinetry and furniture; a quality not available in mass-market products. Using veneer is good environmental practise. Veneer gives 60 to 70 times the yield of solid wood. Applied to a manufactured wood substrate (an environmentally advantageous product), it is more stable dimensionally than a solid or a plywood, and more versatile.

Be creative in your choice of finish: consider veneers such as burls, birdseye, wavy and curly grained woods and other local and imported species from managed sources.

Remember, no two pieces of wood are identical, a well-chosen veneer makes your furniture unique. I like to say that “the wood does the work, I’m just the wood worker”.

Milk Paint

Milk Paint is a essentially a casein paint made from casein powder extracted from milk with a pigment added. It is supplied as a powder and mixed with water for use. A relatively thick mixture is opaque, and the material can be thinned to form a transparent coating which shows the grain of the wood underneath. It is very durable, waterproof (suitable for exterior use) when dry, and mould resistant. On a porous surface it will neither chip nor peel. The paint has an attractive matte sheen surface. Milk paint lends itself to antiquing effects.

Please note that these colours when viewed on your monitor are approximations intended to give an idea of the range of colours available. Please consult a paint manufacturer's colour chip for a more accurate sample.
